What Is The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI)?
Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Since its inception in 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional Tour players to weekend enthusiasts. An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.
What Is The TPI Functional Movement Screen?
Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) believes that although there are infinite ways to swing a golf club there is one efficient way for every golfer to swing, based on what they can physically do. No two bodies are the same, we all present some degree of differences in bony architecture, muscle length-tension relationships, joint laxity, lever lengths, etc. The TPI Movement Screen is a combination of 16 exercises that was created to assess your current movement capabilities, identify limitations, and provide you with your “Body-Swing” connection. The “Body-Swing” connection is a term coined by TPI which illustrates the link between physical deficiencies and potential swing tendencies or faults.
The TPI screen can identify restrictions in the way your body moves within your swing so that we can accurately prescribe/develop a program to improve body mechanics, increase efficiency, generate more power and decrease the risk of injuries associated with your golf game. Whether you are a scratch golfer or a beginner, this process will help take your golf game to the next level.
